Organic, choclate, fudge, bon bons, bark etc in Etobicoke

How our business came to be:

It all began with an injury ... it really did. I had injured my lower back quite severely right after deciding to leave the advertising & marketing world to go into the food industry and was saddened I might have to give up my dream of creating sweets. So... after six months of hard work getting back on my feet and hearing my mother jokingly say "It must be nice to be sitting around eating bonbons.", I decided I needed to get back to finding my place in the food industry.

I started out as a dishwasher in a bakery which wasn’t my dream job but if it meant I could work in the kitchen I was happy. I wasn’t a dishwasher for long and I moved up the ranks quickly to become bakery manager. I managed the bakery for almost two years before deciding it was time to make my hobby of chocolate making into a real business.

My husband and I started going to Farmer’s Markets while renting a kitchen and response was very good . In October of 2007 we opened our retail and wholesale shop in Etobicoke. Response has been more than we ever hoped for and we continue to grow our business every day.

We now have our own little shop with it’s own kitchen and my dream has come true ... I rarely get to "sit around and eat bonbons" but I do find it very fulfilling to make a variety of tasty organic and FairTrade chocolate treats.

There are many benefits to chocolate so it is a guiltless choice.
For example did you know that chocolate ...

  • may increase "good" (HDL) cholesterol levels by as much as 10 percent;
  • is endowed with antioxidants;
  • affects levels of the body's mood-affecting chemicals, including serotonin, endorphins and phenylethylamine;
  • acts as an anti-depressant;
  • dieters can keep chocolate in their diets by just working it into their total calorie count - the average chocolate bar is only 250 calories;
  • doesn't cause acne or irritate it;
  • contains the vitamins B1, B2, D and E as well as the minerals potassium and magnesium;
  • coats the teeth while it's being consumed making it one of the least likely snacks to cause tooth decay;
and there are many many more benefits!

I just did about 90% of my Christmas shopping at this great little chocolate shop. They handmake all of their organic chocolate products. And all of their chocolate is FairTrade too. I was soooo surprised to find this little shop right in my own neighbourhood. If you haven't been there ... you should go ... NOW ... GO! :)
