Sustainable community development has been a passion of Ron Jaicarran's for a long time. For those of you who have read his blog, he is part of two community projects that he believe's will collectively change the relationship we have with our neighbours and neighbourhoods. The projects will not only provide communities with the tools necessary to recognize their own needs, but also build their capacity to bring in the services and programs to meet their needs. It has been his work in development that has brought to light the central role school's play in the development of communities. A school's responsibility to the public extends beyond their primary role of educating children, as they are a natural hub for community interaction. The relationship a school builds with their students, and the community outside their doors, does not only significantly impact a student's quality of life, but also impacts the the direction a community takes in its development. It is his desire to improve the relationship school's have with not only students and parents, but also the community for which they are a member of. It is this desire that has helped him decide that being part of the decision making process is the next logical step in his efforts to bring change to my community and others. Therefore he is putting his name forward to be elected as the next TDSB Trustee for Ward 2 in the upcoming city elections. This is not just about a single election, it is about creating the foundation needed greater change. Bringing about great change always start locally, but evolves into something much more which can spread beyond a local postal code when given the time, support and resources. Join him in my tireless efforts to bring to change to our communities by stepping forward in support my campaign for TDSB Trustee for Ward 2. You can lend your support by: *Spreading the word to family, friends and co-workers. *Volunteering your time. *Organizing a small fundraising party among friends and family (I love attending parties!). *Donate at www.ronjaicarran.ca or contact him at
