Five men face 26 charges in robbery investigation, Etobicoke PDF Print E-mail

On Thursday, June 11, 2009, at 3 a.m., police responded to a robbery call in the Stanley Avenue/Superior Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

  • five men in a black Honda left the car and approached a 30-year old woman, pushed her to the ground, and stole her identification. The victim received minor injuries to her face

It is further alleged that

  • at 3:08 a.m., the same five men approached a 28-year-old man walking on Mimico Avenue, the men demanded money from the victim.

It is further alleged that:

  • at 4:25 a.m., the same five men entered the backyard of a home on Gair Drive and broke a glass window of a garage,
  • when a resident of the home, 19, went to investigate, one of the men threw a patio stone at the victim, hitting him in the hand,
  • the accused fled in the black Honda,
  • police located five men in the Honda on Skelton Street.

Grant Morson, 18; Andrew Marushiak, 19; John Humenick, 19; Joshua Drouillard, 18; and Beau Kew, 18; all of Toronto, have each been charged with:

  1. two counts of Robbery,
  2. Mischief Under,
  3. Attempt Theft Under,
  4. Assault with a Weapon.

John Humenick, 19, is additionally charged with Possession Property Obtained by Crime.

The accused appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, June 11, 2009, 206F, 10 a.m.

Most of these charges were dropped as the situation was not as described in the newspapers. Too bad there is no recourse for misinformation that impedes young people in their future.
