TTC driver charged in sexual assault investigation, 22 Division PDF Print E-mail

On Monday, June 1, 2009, police began a sexual assault investigation.
It is alleged that:

  • a 54-year-old woman started a conversation with the accused, a TTC bus driver, on a bus, then accompanied him to the Kipling subway station to purchase a Metro Pass,
  • the woman purchased a Metro Pass, and was then approached by the accused in the bus bay area,
  • they continued a conversation, then went to a TTC employees?only room, at the end of the bus platform, for a cigarette,
  • once in the room, the accused sexually assaulted the woman.

It is further alleged that:

  • the accused contacted the woman after the assault.

Richard Hemphill, 61, of Toronto, is charged with:

  1. Forcible Confinement,
  2. Sexual Assault,
  3. Criminal Harassment (Communicate).

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, June 5, 2009, 10 a.m., room 206F.
