TTC driver charged in sexual assault investigation, 22 Division |

On Monday, June 1, 2009, police began a sexual assault investigation. It is alleged that:
- a 54-year-old woman started a conversation with the accused, a TTC bus driver, on a bus, then accompanied him to the Kipling subway station to purchase a Metro Pass,
- the woman purchased a Metro Pass, and was then approached by the accused in the bus bay area,
- they continued a conversation, then went to a TTC employees?only room, at the end of the bus platform, for a cigarette,
- once in the room, the accused sexually assaulted the woman.
It is further alleged that:
- the accused contacted the woman after the assault.
Richard Hemphill, 61, of Toronto, is charged with:
- Forcible Confinement,
- Sexual Assault,
- Criminal Harassment (Communicate).
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Friday, June 5, 2009, 10 a.m., room 206F.
