On Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 3:55 p.m., police responded to a robbery call at an apartment on Bergamot Avenue.
It is alleged that:
- the three accused forced their way into an apartment, while a fourth stood guard at the door,
- two of the accused, armed with guns and the third with a knife, confronted a 27-year-old man in his bedroom,
- two younger siblings were also in the apartment at the time,
- a struggle ensued, between the accused and the victim, at which time the victim was cut,
- the victim ran out of the apartment to safety and police were called,
- officers located the four suspects at an address nearby and were arrested.
A search warrant was executed at an apartment on Bergamot Avenue as a result of this investigation.
It is further alleged that:
- a 9 mm. semi-automatic and a switchblade were seized during the search warrant.
A 17-year-old boy was charged with:
- Robbery While Armed with a Firearm,
- Disguise with Intent,
- Pointing a Firearm,
- two counts of Fail to Comply with Y.C.J.A.,
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order,
- Fail to Comply Recognizance,
- Revocation of Bail.
A second 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:
- Robbery While Armed with a Firearm,
- Disguise with Intent.
A third 17-year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:
- Robbery While Armed with a Firearm,
- Disguise with Intent,
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized,
- Pointing a Firearm,
- three counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance,
- Revocation of Bail.
Kadeem Reid, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:
- Robbery While Armed with a Firearm,
- Disguise with Intent.
The accused were scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 10 a.m., room 204-F
