I decided to cut out of work an hour early to drive from work in Mississauga to Toronto for the festivities. If your wondering why I'm writing about Toronto on EtobiGO, you should know that some parts of Etobicoke are called New Toronto, so 'nuff said. Anyway, all of the events were being held at City Hall and the surrounding Nathan Philips Sq. Luckily, there is Green P parking which is well priced at $6 after 6pm, on Queen St. just south of Nathan's Philips Sq. Just outside City Hall a DJ was mixing 80's music to get you in a celebratory mood. I listened for a while but bored quickly and moved inside. Inside City Hall doors were displays of old Toronto with some family activities like "make your own button", which was pretty neat for the kids. I decided to catch some of the films being shown, specifically "Let's All Hate Toronto". It's a comedic Canadian documentary examining reasons why everyone in Canada seems to hate Toronto. I think the fact that they can show this film in Toronto proves that we Torontonians have a good sense of humor. Also, had the opportunity to drop in and see the Council Chamber and some of the committee rooms which was a great. All in all it was a good day to visit Toronto for it's 175th.

That sounds like it would have been fun. I guess I will have to wait about 25 years until the next big Toronto anniversary day, it's 200th year.
