Yes another skate park has been the topic of conversation for local watchdog group that is opposed the thought of having a concrete recreational facility in Colonel Sam Smith Park. But this time it is not a skate boarding park, but a skating track for ice skating. Three months ago the city had plans drawn up to build this $2 million dollar skating track but have now had to put those plans to rest, despite the local interest from residents in the area.

Opponents to the plans have voiced their concerns about the intrusion on a lakefront retreat. But I feel sorry for all the kids, including myself who would have loved the original plans for the skate boarding park to be built at this location.

I think this is the perfect location for a park of this type, and I am sure there are a lot of people out there who feel the same, why not voice your opinion on our etobigo forum found under the share tab.

This sounds like it would be a great solution for a lot of young people that are just trying to find a good skate spot in Etobicoke. We probably wouldn't see so many waxed curbs!

this is a very good idea like theres good spots around here but there not "legal" so like having anything to skate on would be just great half pipes, rails. anything for us to skate without getting kicked off
